Polish plans to ban the vape and flavored nicotine pouches

The Polish Ministry of Health plans to ban the sale of disposable vapes and flavored nicotine pouches.

According to Portalsamorzadowy on May 7th, Wojciech Konieczny, Deputy Minister of Health of Poland, announced at a meeting of the Parliamentary Health Committee on May 7th that the government has formulated a legislative draft to ban the sale of disposable vapes and nicotine pouches with flavoring components. The draft has been approved by the government procedural arrangements working group.

According to the deputy minister, the proposal will also explicitly prohibit the sale of all types of vapes to minors under the age of 18, and impose supplementary restrictions on products currently not included in the regulatory scope of current regulations in the market.
The Polish Parliament Health Committee voted unanimously on the draft. All 31 members of the conference voted in support of the draft, with no objections or abstentions. The committee members unanimously decided not to propose any amendments.
According to the EU legislative coordination procedure, if there are any modifications to the draft, it will need to be resubmitted to the European Commission for a three-month technical notification. According to the Ministry of Health’s plan, the regulation prohibiting the sale of all vapes to people under the age of 18 is specifically intended to be implemented before the summer vacation.
