The Australian Therapeutic Goods Act (TGA) has released the “2026-2027 Compliance Principles”, which specify that from January 1, 2026, compliance and enforcement resources will focus on 12 categories of therapeutic products, including vape products.

• TGA emphasizes key enforcement on 12 types of products, including “vaping products”
• Propose to crack down on unapproved and counterfeit products, covering e-commerce and social media channels
• Propose countermeasures against false and misleading information online, including social media and internet celebrity content
• Propose to upgrade compliance tools and address the risks of AI generated error messages and deceptive endorsements
According to the official website of the Australian Therapeutic Goods Act (TGA), TGA has released the “TGA Compliance Principles 2026-2027”, stating that in the future, the focus of enforcement will shift to 12 categories of products that include “vaping goods”.

1. Proactively review advertisements, especially in the digital space;
2. Crackdown on unapproved and counterfeit products (including e-commerce and social media channels);
3. Enhance the accessibility of compliance information to the public, industry, and other stakeholders through guidance and education;
4. Strengthen the response to online false and misleading information (including social media and internet celebrity content);
5. Upgrade compliance tools and handle AI generated error messages and deceptive endorsement risks, while enhancing the visibility of compliance enforcement actions and focusing on non compliant behavior in digital channels.

The document shows that from January 1, 2026, TGA’s compliance and enforcement activities will focus on 12 categories of therapeutic products, including “vaping goods”. TGA also stated that the next review of these priority areas is scheduled for March 2026.
The document also states that in addition to the listed priority areas, TGA will handle other compliance cases and investigations, and may take action on non compliant situations identified, regardless of whether they fall within established compliance priorities.
