The Thai Cabinet has approved the proposal of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to strengthen regulation of vapes, instructing the Ministry of Health and relevant agencies to revise the 2017 Tobacco Control Act as soon as possible to cover vapes and other new tobacco products. The government emphasizes the need to prevent nicotine addiction among adolescents and to prevent tobacco industry intervention policies in accordance with the World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

According to Thai media hfocus, the Thai Cabinet has approved the National Human Rights Commission’s (NHRC) proposal to strengthen the regulation of vapes, requiring the Ministry of Health and relevant departments to accelerate legislation to include vapes and other new tobacco products in the national tobacco control system.
Deputy government spokesperson Airin Phanrit stated at a press conference at the Prime Minister’s Office that the use of vape in Thailand has been rapidly increasing in recent years, especially among young people, “causing serious nicotine dependence and affecting family and public health.
